My Story

Hey! My name is Griffin Miller and I’m in the Communication Design program in the College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning at UC. Throughout my time at this college, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of design principles as well as design ethics and learn about designing for a better future. Although I’m in the Communication Design program, my creative interests are not limited to just graphic design. If I weren’t in this program, I would probably be in the Industrial Design program due to my love for hands-on learning and building things. My attachment to photography would warrant my belonging to the Fine Arts program, but Communication Design it is. I also love to be outside, whether I’m running, biking, or just walking around. I ran track and cross country in high school and made some life-long friends through the sport.

Through the honors program, I hope to meet people outside of my major, learn important skills through honors experiences, and learn more about myself. I love to make new friends so hopefully, once things calm down a little bit, we will all be able to meet in person and form some deeper connections. In the meantime, feel free to message me through here or on my Instagram if you want to chat! I also love to learn new things. I will try and tailor my honors experiences so that they teach me about subjects I would not be able to learn about in my normally scheduled classes. Last, and certainly not least, I hope through these teachings I will be able to learn more about myself, my values, and my strengths.

Values

For me, my interests, passions, strengths, and values stem from one thing: my desire to learn and grow. I’ve always loved learning, and spend the majority of my free time researching and reading about almost anything. I of course love researching what I’m passionate about, but I also love researching things I don’t know much about. When I’m given a project in class, I always dive headfirst into gaining knowledge on the topic at hand to better prepare myself for possible discussions and the task at hand. Outside of class, I often end up with more open tabs than I can count, the result of a research rabbit hole that sometimes swallows me up for hours. It’s almost like time doesn’t pass when I’m learning. These hour-long information intake sessions have allowed me to connect with others that have similar passions as me and people with unique and diverse stories. I often get lost in learning and overflow my head with what others may call useless facts, but all this information has given me the opportunity to be here today. It has allowed me to live a fulfilling life and have deeper connections with people I might have walked right past on an ordinary day.
